The New Forest Community Orchestra (formerly known as the "New Forest Chamber Orchestra") has been in existence since 2002. Based in Hordle (near New Milton in south-west Hampshire), our orchestra stages two or three concerts each year and is composed of amateur musicians from a wide variety of different backgrounds, all under the professional leadership of Stefan Defilet. |
Forthcoming Events |
| December Concert, Sunday 12th December 2010, 7pm, at Brockenhurst Village Hall Yes, we know, how can we think about Christmas while we are still making the most of the summer? We need to practise, that's why! We intend to bring you a pre-Christmas December concert of some light classical music and maybe throw in a couple of festive treats while we're at it. The programme is expected to include (amongst other things) such items as Haydn's 101st "Clock" Symphony, the Blue Danube and a selection of Polovtsian Dances. |
Previous Events |
| Milford Festival, "Smooth Sunday" 11th July 2010 We were on the main stage late in the afternoon, and played a number of pieces from our Brockenhurst concert. The weather behaved itself and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere (even those of us that didn't visit the beer tent!). This was our first time at this festival, but we do hope that this will become a regular annual event for the orchestra. |
| Lymington Arts Festival, Saturday 19th June 2010 We played a selection of pieces, and due to the slightly windy weather we all got some good practice in the art of Pegging Music To The Stand. |
| Summer Concert, Sunday 23rd May, Brockenhurst Village Hall The concert consisted of a mixture of English music and Film music : March : Crown Imperial (Walton) / In a Monastery Garden (Ketelby) / Miniature Suite - 1st Movement (Coates)/Salut D’Amore (Elgar) Elizabethan Serenade (Binge) / Springtime Suite - 1st Movement (Coates) / Chanson de Matin (Elgar) / Chanson de Nuit (Elgar) Dambusters March (Coates) / Sound of Music Suite (Rodgers) / Wizard of Oz – 2 Extracts (Arlen) Live and Let Die (McCartney) / My Fair Lady Suite (Loewe) / Pirates of the Caribbean (Badelt) |
| Christmas-2009 Concert - Lymington Community Centre, 13th December 2009 |
